Gold Coast Australia has been sailing the second race for the Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race now for nine days through a variety of conditions and crossing some very tactical mile stones along the way.

By the end of day two in the second race from Madeira to Rio de Janeiro in the Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race, I was exhausted.

Day 8 of our first race down to Madeira ended with the birthday celebrations of crew member Patrick Cooper who was fortunate enough to be helming in idyllic sailing conditions surfing waves with regular speeds of 14 knots.

When the gun went in Cowes at the start of the race, I started the Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race as the only professional amongst 15 amateurs on a stripped out 68-foot race boat.

It was on a delivery towards Australia for the Sydney to Hobart Yacht race when we ran out of reading material and as usual, started to read a sailing magazine cover to cover again, this time I was reading the advertisements.
